Two completely awesome things first. - Miggy? OH MY EGGING (originally a typo but I kept it because it's funny :D) GOSH. Game-tying two-run homerun on Saturday. Grand slam yesterday. Homerun today. ajewrlkaew looooooooovvveeee. There's our silver slugger! <33 - D-LEE, FIVE YEAR CONTRACT EXTENSION YES YES YES <3333 There's our other silver slugger! And he's been doing awesomely too, obviously.
Some not-so-awesome things. - Today's loss. I checked right after school... being down 9-0 is never pretty. Glendon gave up four homeruns. Someone on the Cubs board said something along the lines of 'Cubs, 4-0; Rusch, 0-2".. which is a horrible thing to say--this is a team. I feel horrible though--both for Glendon and about the game in general. What a downer after our sweeping the Cards. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. (: - Jacque's injured. I don't really know what happened, but he is. And that stinks as well. - School is going to kill me. It's completely my fault, of course.. but still. I feel like running into a moving train or something. (but I won't because I'm a coward :D)
And here come two random spazzes/blabs. One's about DBSK, the other's about the Cubs. Pick one, read both, or leave because I don't want to bore you; I simply want to vent. (:
First, another not-so-awesome thing. ajwerklawe Jaejoong (lead-singer and pretty boy of DBSK, I've decided he's my favorite, yeah, yeah, yeah another "girly" Korean boyband guy.. whatever. he's the best singer and his personality is what decided it for me. Junsu and Changmin come right after) was caught driving "drunk." I found out literally minutes after it came out on the news in Korea. I put drunk in quotes because his blood alcohol content level was .072. Your BAC needs to be .08 for you to be legally drunk in the States. Yeah. Korea's limit is .05 (and Japan's is supposedly .03, wow). Korea has these checkpoints where they literally stop every single driver and check their BAC, so JJ was most likely not driving awfully and swerving and appearing to be drunk.
According to what I've read, he went out with some friends and drank three bottles and was caught at about one in the morning. It was stupid of him to drive drunk and I'm not going to be all "AWW, OH MY GOSH SWEETIE YOU LOOK SO HOT APOLOGIZING I LOVE YOU IT'S OKAY AS LONG AS NO ONE DIED" like a lot of other fangirls are being. It was an idiotic mistake. But I feel horribly for him. Why? Korea's 9032840923 times more conservative than the U.S. Japan is very conservative as well. JJ apologized during a concert this weekend. It wasn't just a "hey guys, sorry for what happened".. from what I've heard. He said in interviews that he was going to give "one hundred apologies" and yeah, he looks extremely sincere in the pictures I've seen. All of DBSK looks completely sad and dejected in their concert pictures; it makes me sad. SM (DBSK's entertainment company) and Avex (DBSK's Japanese entertainment company) released official apologies immediately after the news was released to the public. And.
And.
Avex announced immediately that JJ would be withdrawing from DBSK's activities for a while. I've been hearing that it'll be two months. Two freaking months. And all this after he missed out on performing/dancing for NINE MONTHS due to his knee injury. To some of you guys, this won't sound like a huge deal. Buuttt DBSK literally has activities daily. Talk shows, fanmeeting sessions, news interviews, performances, radio station sessions, photoshoots, etc. etc. etc. Their schedules are packed and they spend nearly every living moment together. So it's a pretty big deal that JJ will be left out of everything for two whole months.
Furthermore. As I (kind of) said, Jaejoong has just recovered fully from his knee injury. He performed all of "Rising Sun" instead of just sitting in a chair and singing his part for the very first time just last week or so. Those of you who have seen it know that the dance? Is awjerklae unbelievably complicated. He learned the entire thing and performed it well. He was really emotional that day and actually teared up over finally being back. He said things like "I'm a burden" and "all of DBSK is good except for me" all the time during his injury and I was so, so, so happy for him and even proud of him for working so hard and getting back. And now this.
Antis are going nuts over this incident. People are pointing fingers and calling him stupid, etc. But honestly, he has to regret this more than anyone else. He's worked so hard to get this far (he dropped out of school at the age of fifteen, left home and went to Seoul alone, had no money, little food, took up like 5 jobs at a time, and spent 10-16 hours a day practicing) and this one mistake is putting his entire career at risk.
People at a DBSK forum I go to are talking about how they're worrying about him. About a year ago, he was this happy, almost cocky-seeming, camera-whorish, confidence-exuding, dorky guy. He's become rather withdrawn/quiet/almost-insecure-seeming since his knee injury and he's always putting himself down. I can't help but feel like this entire incident is really going to affect him in a bad way.
dot dot dot. Yes, some of you guys will only think I'm even more of an obsessive freak for having written this whole thing.. but I really am worried and I felt the need to put some of this freaking-out-ness in my head into words.
Second--this isn't as long as ^ that, haha. But it made me laugh out loud; hopefully some of you guys will find it funny too. :P It's from the Cubs board. Here's the actual link; it's a bit hard to follow the way I've pasted it here. =X
THREAD TITLE: Barrett On Pace For 290 RBI's
(original post) If he goes on a bit of a tear, does anyone think he can reach 300?
I think so, he was hovering around .300 at the end of 2004, but then went on a slump.
I mean 300 ribbies.
oh, lol, doubt it.
He might tail off and only get 250 or so, which is still very good.
Only if that bum D. Lee stops doulbe playing them to death, yes 300 RBI are a possiblity
I think 290 might lead the league. If Chris Shelton hits a homer a game he may challenge him
Well, maybe now that the contract situation is resolved, Lee will hit a little better. But does this mean fewer opportunities for Barrett if Lee starts knocking guys in?
Could be, but Barrett has better guys in front of him getting on base.
That SOB Lee, stealing RBI opportunities from Barrett.
Yeah, maybe we should move Barrett ahead of him. Getting to 300 ribbies would be something.
No no, Barret bats third, Lee jerks off in the eighth spot- until Lee is dealt to Seattle for Ichiaro, and Sing starts at first base.
(horatio:) Well, that might help Barrett, but do you think it would help the team?
The games that Blanco catches may slow him down
Barrett should catch every game. Otherwise it will be difficult for him to reach the magic "300 RBI" plateau.
Dagumit horatio, Barrett and Neifi ARE the team!
He can rest some by DHing in games in AL parks
(horatio:) True, they should be anyway. Neifi has 4 hits in 7 AB's. Project that out for 600 AB's and it's over 340 hits. Not too bad for a third-string second baseman.
(twayne01:) If Barret hits behind him and drives him in on all 340 of his hits, the 300 RBI barrier gets shattered
Now you're getting the picture, trade Lee for what ever you can get at this point, start Neifi at first base.
(dero72:) With Barrett's 300+ RBI's the Cubs are on pace to go 130-32. I think Barrett getting it done, the Cubs can too.
The only person who might be able to out RBI, Barrett, would be Ditka.
Rusch at 0-32 is really gonna weigh down the pitching staff
Yeah, that 0-32 record will be embarrasing but Maddux going 32-0 will make people forget about Rusch (not too mention Lee's 97 HR's and Barrett's 300 RBI's.
The DH'ing in AL parks is a good idea. You should be manager.
(to twayne01) Excellent point. The batting order should be Pierre, Neifi, Barret 1-3.
(to dero72) I didn't think of that. 130 wins has to be a record.
To those who don't go to the Cubs board regularly (which is.. most of you, I think), I think most of these guys were trying to be satirical. Some fans are completely irrational and start making assumptions about players regardless of sample size. People say things like "oh my god, he gave up two homeruns today, I hope he never starts again" or "did you see that homerun today? I think he's going to hit 50 homeruns." I can't think of a good example, but yeah--people have been saying things like that.. and that's why ^ the above is so funny. :D :D :D
CUBS FANS, WATCH THIS: CLICK! Greg Maddux commercial from '98 with Tom Glavine. It's soooo funny. |
